Before you answer the questions, read the notes about the films author, Dee Brown, and the research here.
Describe the attraction that Dee Brown had to begin searching about facts of Native Americans?
What about Dee Brown's research and book makes this film reliable?
The two first scenes of the film show: 1-two boys being chased and the Battle at Little Bighorn, and 2-a discussion between Dawes, President Grant and a Senator about the conditions for why the Battle at Little Big Horn occurred.
Describe the perceptions(points of view) that are discussed.
After cavalry men burn down a native village, Sitting Bull takes his people to Canada. The next scene shows a boy getting his hair cut. Why is this necessary? Why do you suppose that he needs to chose a Christian name?
How do Sitting Bull and his people react to the news of Crazy Horse? How does this news give you the ability to predict the future?
How does being assimilated effect Charles?

The Solders point of view is that there going there to get gold to make there country stronger, and they where just following President Grants orders
The indians just wanted to live there own way and not the white mans ways. They where defending them selfs when they where attacked.
We didn't see enough of the movie
This film is reliable because it shows what happened and it gives you a better perspective
The scene of this movie that i seen was these two boys playing by a creek. then they heard something and then they seen a whole bunch of people on horses coming after them. one of the got shot, and the other just kept running. Then they had a big battle. Then the indians took the other peoples hoses and rode off.
the perceptions are the indians who were attacked and the senators and president and the reason it happened was they attacked first and the indians were trying to protect there family
I saw the battle of little big horn and who killed Custer. I saw that the white men had captured an indian and put him in prison and made him worship their god. He went back to the lands where his people were and got his son and went away with him.
the points of view that are in this move is the indians and Henry Dawes.
didn't see enough of the move.
Assimilated means to absord or something like that in toe a new culture or econimy

When he was younger he had met a few native americans and he had a hard time believing that they were as savage as whites made them out to be.
What about Dee Brown's research and book makes this film reliable?
What makes this film reliable is that he talked to Native American's an got eyewitness accounts.

What is discussed is how the one guy thinks that the Indians should be kept alive and the other one thinks that since they resisted they should be dead. And a lot of other things about Native American's.
What does it mean to be assimilated?
Take in information
i think that the whites were completely unfair to the indians, they didnt give them much of a choice for the treaty
I don;t think that it was fair what they did. I mean the white man... What they did to them. They should not of went in to there homes and started to kill them.
I Think That Everyone Has The Right To Do They Want,Any Time And Anywere they If They Want To Do WHat They Want With Out Being Forced to Do somthin they dont want to do
the boys see the americans with guns invading their territories and try to get back to the village before the americans and one of the boys were shot.
The discussion with the president was about how they could get to the gold and move the indians to the reservations.
the two guys wanted to save the indians an the other guy wanted to get rid of them because of what happend at the battle of little big horn he said that the death of all his men was like something he had never seen befor
What i thought about the move is that it was missed up how the white man wanted the land back that they promised to the Indians that they will have it for ever.
I believe that that the village was burned for the fact crazy horse massacred the 7th cavalry. It makes the Indians feel hat they have been denied of the treaty of 1868 giving the Indians rights to the land and no white man could entrude
The point of view from the two boys being chased was from the Indian point of view. the Indians were being attacked by the white man so Many of them were fighting.
The scene where the president and the senator were talking about the indians were the white mans point of view, because they were talking about how it was bad and what they should do aboyt it.
I think that is is messes up what they did to the indians. What ever happened to freedom... well i guess they didn't have it back then. I think that they should have sticked to the treaty cause it is the right thing to do
i think when the boys hair got cut was necessary because that was the boy who did not have an american name and was also very smart.
the natives where smart but not that smart
ZACH F WAS HERE
This movie rocks but teachers quite stopping the movie
i think that it was messed up because they have the sam right as any one else
i think when the boys hair got cut was necessary because that was the boy who did not have an american name and was also very smart.
Red cloud went to canada to retreat from the white man
I STILL have know idea who dee brown is.
The point of views are that the indians are innocent, and that they are not =)
He needs a christian name to have others notice him as a "white man" and the hair cut is because it was his last indian piece i guess.
he is suprised when he knows the dude died
~ Josh Allred
the begining effected charles by haveing him pick a christian name for a teacher to call on him and that angered him so he broke down and became a wite in a way and has been bitter about the schooling his hole life
the last 2 q's are furlther along in the movie then we are
this affects charles because it is the tribe that he was in and that his old teacher was getting the name of his chief rong she said it was spotted bear but it was really little crow that is my opiniun
The point of view is that the first it seems that the cavalry is attacking but in the second one is saying that the Indians attacked.
I dont think it was right that they made him leave and they cut his hair
Sitting bull takes his people to Canada do they can live in peace. The Boy's hair was getting cut so he would fit in. The people didn't react well because crazy house was a good leader. Because we know what happens next.
They had met up with the other people sat on the blanket talked and when he said something they had started war. Then the indians had to move to a different place beacuse of them. they burned there homes down and when they got to a new place 2 guys went and stole 2 horses after he killed the horse this familys kid died.
I think this movie because they have so much info in it
They had met up with the outher people siad lets fight. Then the indians had to move to a different place beacuse of them. Then the kid had to change his name. they got to a new place two go.

the indians met up with the calvary and sat on that blanket again and they were talking. Then the indian said that they should have war and the calvary said we shall. So they had a war and the calvary was beating the indians. Then the calvary went and burnt down the indians belongings and homes. Then then indians went to the U.S and re-built their homes. Then the cops cam and said that they could stay their as long as they dont get in the way of other peoples hunting and how they have hard winter so they should go hunting asap so they dont have to durning the winter. Also cops brought them food and supplies.

I think that the Indians were being pushed out of their lands. The land should be the Indians lands. The whites gave them that land. They shouldn't be able to take it from the Indians. The Whites drove the Indians out of the Black Hills, where they settled in Canada and were welcomed by the Canadians.
they went to Canada and the one guy took his son and his son had to go to a white school and the teacher wouldn't call on him until he changed his name to a white person name.
