Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee

Yes, it is expected that you answer ALL of the questions...Today you will have seen enough of the film to respond.  These are open ended questions, this means that you write what you feel, and from the gut.  The only thing right about your answer will be that it comes from you.

Before you answer the questions, read the notes about the films author, Dee Brown, and the research here.

Describe the attraction that Dee Brown had to begin searching about facts of Native Americans?

What about Dee Brown's research and book makes this film reliable?

The two first scenes of the film show: 1-two boys being chased and the Battle at Little Bighorn, and 2-a discussion between Dawes, President Grant and a Senator about the conditions for why the Battle at Little Big Horn occurred.
Describe the perceptions(points of view) that are discussed.

After cavalry men burn down a native village, Sitting Bull takes his people to Canada.  The next scene shows a boy getting his hair cut.  Why is this necessary?  Why do you suppose that he needs to chose a Christian name?

How do Sitting Bull and his people react to the news of Crazy Horse?  How does this news give you the ability to predict the future?

How does being assimilated effect Charles?
